The trip to England of the classes 10m/il of Gymnasium Ottweiler in 2015

Day 1:
On Sunday, 28 June 2015, we started our journey from Ottweiler. Our teachers Mr.
Bubel and Mrs. Nahtz accompanied us to Brighton where we met Mrs. Binkle.
We drove over night and reached our youth hostel in Brighton at about 11am. The youth hostel was very nice and very close to the beach, a pebble beach.
On the beach, we heard some presentations on Brighton and the Brighton Pier. After that we visited the Royal Pavillion, a very interesting building in an Indian style but with Chinese interior fittings. In the evening, we had our dinner at the youth hostel.

Day 2:
Very early in the next morning, after a very British breakfast with baked beans, bacon and scrambled eggs, about which our opinions were very different, we started our trip to London.
Having a problem caused by new fares on the Tube and with our tickets, we were unable to visit every sight we wanted to see but we visited the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Millenium Bridge and Mme Tussaud’s where we took pictures with lots of stars, which was very funny. For the brave among us there was still the creepy part of Mme Tussaud`s: the Live Chamber.
After that we had some free time until the evening. In groups of four, we visited the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, which were very impressive, Buckingham Palace and the beautiful Hyde Park or went shopping (chiefly the girls).
In the evening, we had the choice of two musicals: Thriller or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Two very nice musicals, understandable even for students. Late in the evening, we drove back to Brighton. We all agreed that London is a great city which is worthwhile visiting.

Day 3:
On the next morning, we had some free time in Brighton. In this time, we strolled through the city or we went to the Brighton pier, a place with carousels. At 12:00 o ́clock, we left for Hever Castle, the castle of Anne Boleyn, one of Henry VIII’s wives. We visited the castle and the big park with funny yew-tree figures, a yew maze and a water maze where we had lots of fun, and even our teachers get wet.
Back in Brighton, we got the chance to swim in the sea and had a nice barbecue on the beach - an eventful day came to an end.

Day 4:
On Thursday, we went to see the famous prehistoric stone circle of Stonehenge.
Unfortunately, it rained but in England only one rainy day of five is a good yield.
However, the atmosphere was getting mystical by the rain and the ravens which were sitting one the stones. Despite the many people we could see the circle very nicely.
Some of us found it boring but the majority found it very impressive to see.

Day 5:
On our last day, we could choose if we wanted to rest in Brighton or if we wanted to take a bus ride through the landscape around Brighton to the Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. The landscape of southern England is different from our landscape so it was a great experience to see it.
At 2.00 pm, we had to leave Brighton and England to head back to Ottweiler. After having taken the ferry from Dover to Dunkerque and a night ride we reached Ottweiler at 7.00 o'clock on Saturday morning.

It was a very beautiful, interesting and horizon-expending trip and we want to say thank you to Mrs. Binkle, Mrs. Nahtz and Mr. Bubel for this awesome week.

Good Bye England
